Weight Loss

Is Weight Loss Hypnotherapy Difficult?
From my own personal experience and as a Weight Loss Hypnotherapist, I have discovered that this is most likely the Number 1 most difficult and complex issue.   There are so many great diet and exercise programs available today.  So why is over 60% of the U.S. population still overweight and suffering from symptoms of obesity, such as diabetes, heart attacks, hypertension, high blood pressure, emotional instability, and early death?  Since becoming a Hypnotherapist, I have discovered that all of these programs are missing one vital factor – the resistance of the Subconscious Mind.

Why Don’t Conventional Diet and Weight Loss Programs Work?
Unfortunately, in spite of our progress in this area, most diet and exercise programs still tackle only the physical aspect of weight loss.  Physicians and weight loss professionals usually don’t take into account that changes must occur mentally, emotionally, and perhaps even spiritually (according to an individual’s belief system) in order for permanent weight loss to take place.  Much of the overweight population is compulsively overeating to satisfy something that is missing in their lives and is not prepared to handle the stressors of life without the buffer of food.

Why Does Hypnotherapy Work When Other Programs Fail?
Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective tools for dealing with the challenges of weight loss, weight maintenance, and handling life without the need for excess food. Diet and exercise programs, even those that include behavior modification programs, only work with 12% of the mind, called the Conscious Mind.  Hypnotherapy works with the 88% of the mind, the Subconscious Mind that has developed  the association that food equals comfort.

What Can I  Expect from Weight Loss Hypnotherapy?
When you contact me for weight loss, I explain that this is usually long-term therapy.  I tell you what you probably already suspect, that this is not just about finding the ideal diet, exercise, and maintenance program.  It is about uncovering the reasons for compulsive overeating.  And during the course of our therapy, we will be changing habits AND searching for reasons for compulsive overeating.  Compulsive overeating is often tied to stress, emotions, relationships, self image, jobs, fears, traumatic experiences, and many other factors.

I spend a great deal of time getting to know you and together we design a personal weight loss/maintenance program.  In addition to following a food and exercise plan, you will be doing work in between session.  This work might include:  journaling, goal-setting, self image improvement, and vision boards.  You might even consider joining a 12-Step Program for compulsive eating (see the link, “Hypnotherapy and the 12 Steps”).   Your in between work will be reinforced during sessions subconsciously with Hypnotherapy.

This Sounds Really Difficult!
As I mentioned previously, Weight Loss Hypnotherapy is challenging, but you probably have tried everything and spent thousands of dollars.  If you are willing to push past whatever feelings you have about your weight and food issues and suspend self-judgment, we will work together in a very loving, safe environment, and find the cause(s) and the solution(s). Remember, weight loss, weight maintenance, and achieving a fulfilling quality of life without the need for excess food is a self-discovery process.  As far as I’m concerned, there is no such thing as “blowing you diet”, “cheating”, or “failing”.  We are on this journey together to find what works best for you.
